Window Shopping

  • Jumper by Bank (mine came from Republic, but you can get them online here)
  • Jeans from Next
  • Wedge trainers from Next
  • Rings from Primark

primark rings

Look! Outfit pictures! I haven’t taken any in an absolute age. I caved and bought another blogger staple; the Next wedge trainers. Quite a lot of bloggers have these already, and after looking at them in store a few times, I gave in and ordered them. Today was their first outing. They’re actually as comfortable as everyone says, they really don’t feel like wearing heels at all. I walked into town in them today, and wandered around for a couple of hours, and they’re actually really supportive on the feet, and I’d have happily worn them for a few more hours. I think I’m going to get a lot of wear out of them, I’ve already got a few outfits in mind.

The rings were an impulse buy in Primark last weekend. Aren’t they fun? So far, I’ve been wearing them stacked like this, but I think the glasses and the moustache rings would work well worn alone too. I do like a quirky accessory.

I walked into town today for a spot of window shopping. I’ve put myself on a spending ban for a bit; living in Bath is pricey! I still like wandering round the shops though and seeing what’s around. After payday I might treat myself to a few of the things I tried on today. I thought I’d share some of the stuff that caught my eye.

H&M
H&M leather look trousersH&M dress

Apparently the Wonder Woman jumper went to my head in H&M, as both these items made me feel distinctly super-hero like.

The trousers are pleather, and were actually surprisingly awesome. They’re not ‘me’ at all, but I loved the colour, so thought I might as well try them on. They’re a bit snug (I always forget how small H&M’s sizing comes up), but in a size up, I might actually be tempted. Who doesn’t want trousers that makes them feel like a super-hero?

The dress was also a bit snug (not one to wear out to dinner!) but was freaking awesome. The black is leather look stuff, and again, not very me, but I liked the shape. I actually quite want this now, might treat myself when I get paid. Overall, H&M kinda underwhelmed me today though. A few cool pieces, but not a lot.

Topshop

The Topshop here has a lot of the studio brands, which both these dresses are, but I forgot to look at which. The studio brands are gorgeous, but a little on the pricey side. I wasn’t convinced on either of these dresses actually. The first one was pretty, and I like the contrast of the pretty pink skirt and the strapping on the bodice. The back is all mesh though, which puts me off. Why do people insist on designing dresses you can’t wear a bra with? They just impossible for us girls with larger chests!

The second dress was better, I love a lace dress! The neck-line is gorgeous with the wide shoulders, but again, presents a bra strap challenge. It was also a bit cleavage-tastic for my tastes. A little too low-plunging! On a smaller bust, I think it’d be lovely though.

I loved this jumper. I like the whole Tee and Cake range actually, but this jumper is awesome. Definitely going back for this when I’ve been paid. It’s crazy soft. All of you go out and buy one now, but don’t buy up the size 10s, ok?

River Island

As soon as I walked into River Island, I spotted this tee, and clearly had to try it on. It’s a cat with a moustache for Christ’s sake. The fit is quite slouchy, which is something I’ve got quite into lately. This is another thing I might be back for on payday. These high-waisted shorts are definitely too short to be worn like this, but with some black tights, they’d be pretty awesome for a night out. Like the H&M trousers, it was the colour that caught my eye. I guess I’ve been suckered by this ‘ox-blood’ thing.

RIVER ISLAND GREY DIP DYE JEWELLED BODYCON DRESSRIVER ISLAND RED CAP SLEEVE BELTED PENCIL DRESS

I’m still not totally sold on the body-con thing, I think, but this dip-dye dress was really pretty. You can’t see the detail very well here, but the top is embellished in little pink plastic jewel bits. Which sounds tacky, but looked nice. Again, underwear issues put me off this, the back dips really low. Which looks lovely, but does present a bra challenge. Seriously, do clothes manufacturers not realise most girls can’t really get away with going braless?

The other dress I tried was this red pencil dress. I’m a sucker for a pencil dress. This is pretty similar to the Kardashian dress I bought the other day, but with cap sleeves. Another one on the pay-day list. I really loved this. The colour hasn’t come out well in this picture, the lighting in the changing rooms was odd, but it’s really very red in person, similar to the back of my phone. If I get only one thing on payday, it’ll be this. Want it!

  2. Good, it's one of those things, where you think 'will I sound weird if I say that?'.
I'm loving the wedge trainers, they're so comfy! Totally forget they're high.
