Cluedo

Last weekend, I donned my best flapper gear and set off to The Cork Palace Hotel (also known as the flat of my friend’s Lloyd and Sophie) for Sophie’s birthday party, which was a 20s era Murder Mystery Party.

Lord Black had been found dead in his hotel room. I was Lady Lavender, wife of the deceased, and a retired actress. Despite discovering Lord Black’s affair with a Mistress Sapphire hours before the murder, I hadn’t done the deed. Of course, the butler did it.

Sophie (Inspector Sienna Fox) had put so much effort into the plot and the decor, and I had a fantastic night. It was hilarious trying to stay in character, especially as I didn’t know many of the other guests. We all had a laugh, even if none of us actually solved the murder.

Hotel manager, Mr Graystone kept the Black Russians and Gin Cocktails flowing, and we all got somewhat tipsy. Once the murder was solved, we settled in to eat birthday cake and play Poker. Or rather, attempt Poker, while a very patient Lloyd tried to teach the rest of us the rules.

Here I am with the murderer, butler Monsieur Azure and the birthday girl, Inspector Sienna Fox. I’ve never been to a Murder Mystery party before, but it was so much fun, so I hope I get the chance to go to one again. Any evening that involves a good whodunnit, cocktails and dancing the Charleston with the girl playing your husband’s mistress (yep, that happened) is pretty awesome in my book. Thanks, Sophie, for a fabulous night, and letting me pinch your photos for this post.
