Waaaaaay back near the start of this blog, I used to post The Sunday Seven; a list of seven things that had been making me smile that week. It kind of faded into retirement, but it’s a feature I’d like to revive. At the moment, being reminded of all the things I have to smile about can’t be a bad thing. So here we go!
1. Dr Who is back
I am a massive, massive Dr Who geek. Huge. So imagine my excitement that it’s back on my screen. This series looks like it’s going to be amazing too. Daleks, weeping angels, River Song…oh yes. I watched the first episode last night. I won’t talk about it, don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but it was fantastic I thought. I am already delirious with excitement for next week.
2. Panto Planning
The planning for our pantomime is well under way at work. I’m busy planning a launch event, which is going to be great fun I think, if a rather hectic day!
3. Unexpected Bargains
I wondered into Dorothy Perkins earlier (I was actually shopping for a birthday present for my mum, but of course found plenty for me too) and spied these hanging on the sale rack. They were £16 originally, with a sale sticker for £12. I cheaped out on my last pair of black ballet shoes, with a £6 pair from H&M which fell apart after about a month. I tried these on and decided I’d get them, as Dorothy Perkins shoes are generally pretty good quality. At the till, I got a surprise. Despite the £12 sticker, when scanned, the shoes rang up as £4. £4! That’s less than half what I thought they were, and a quarter of the original price. Can you say bargain?
4. Beautiful dresses
Loooooook! This is a Dorothy Perkins find too. Dorothy Perkins are getting it so right at the moment with their dresses. I could easily spend hundreds of pounds on their website at the moment, buying dresses. This little beauty was reduced as well, which makes it even better. Here’s a closer shot of that adorable pattern.
5. Getting lost in a good book
I said the other day that I’m taking more time to read. I’ve got a huge stack of books waiting to be read, and I’ve been leant a load more by a colleague. Right now, I’m happily engrossed in a good crime novel, and loving being lost in a story again. I really need to take the time to blast through a book like I used to.
6. Sam and the Womp
This song is all kinds of mental. Jen and I heard it on the radio when we were on holiday, and just ended up crying laughing. We spent the next few days driving around Pembroke, cranking the radio up whenever this song came on and laughing ourselves silly. It’s both a terrible and brilliant song, and just gloriously mad. These guys are fabulous. Plus the video is bonkers as well.
7. Retail therapy
As the earlier Sunday Seven picks show, I may or may not have been doing a fair bit of shopping lately. And I love it. NEW THINGS!
